What to expect as a volunteer

Orientation
Complete a brief orientation covering clinic operations, patient privacy, and the specifics of our community-based care model.
Flexible Scheduling
We work with your academic or professional schedule. Commit to what you can sustain — whether that is a weekly block or a few hours per month.

Permanent Supportive Housing for Adults with Serious Mental Illness
The Building
385 Barnum Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. The historic A.W. Burritt House (1892) — purchased June 2024 for $430,000 through a private gift. Appraised “as complete” at $1,065,000.
Capacity & Model
Ten private rooms with ensuite bathrooms plus one Resident Site Manager unit. Permanent supportive housing — not a shelter. Residents maintain their room as long as they follow program guidelines.
Integrated Care
Clinical care by Sage Healthcare (free). Life skills by Laurel House (free). Meals by Bridgeport Rescue Mission (free). All services delivered on-site at no cost.
Referral Partners
DMHAS · Bridgeport Hospital · Southwest Community Health Center. All referrals coordinated through partner institutions.
